Jeff Bridges’ crotch was too big for Tron!

In the movie Tron, Jeff Bridges filled out his computer outfit a little bit too much.

The bulge of his crotch was too big, and he was forced to wear a dance belt to conceal it.

A similar thing happened years later with Brandon Routh in the new Superman movie; in that case, his crotch was made smaller with computers.

Though the film itself was an initial failure, the arcade video games based on the movie were a great success.

They actually out-grossed the film! The cult success to the movie led to Tron Legacy, which was released a couple of decades later!

Women's breasts owe this invention to Mark Twain!

He was born Samuel Clemens, but we know him by his pen name, Mark Twain.

He's famous for his novels The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and The adventures of Huckleberry Finn.

Twain was very accomplished in fields other than writing, too. For one, he was a talented inventor. Twain invented and patented several things, including a scrapbooking technique.

It was his love of the ladies that led to his most lasting invention. He designed the bra strap clasp.

It's an elastic strap with a clasp that holds loose garments together, such as vests, pantaloons, or other garments.

He meant for the straps to be detachable, and usable on various pieces of clothing.

Twain said, "The advantages of such an adjustable and detachable elastic strap are so obvious that they need no explanation." So, there you have it. Thank you, Mark Twain for such a helpful invention that is so practical it needs no explanation.

A Pope once declared cats were diabolical. It backfired in the most lethal way possible.

Ok, so these two things don't seem to have a connection, but they do.

When the Pope said that cats were diabolical in 1232, he caused an increasing amount of anti-cat sentiments with time.

Cats were loud and noisy at night causing many people to become superstitious about them and associate them with the devil.

Cats and even their owners began to be executed in large numbers. The owners and cats alike were accused of witchcraft. During the next 100 years, cats were slain in great quantities.

Killing off all the cats ended up killing the predator of the rat, which carried the bubonic plague. When the plague began, there weren't many cats to kill the rats running around everywhere.

Between 1347 and 1352, a third of Europe's population died of the bubonic plague.

The rats ran rampant in Europe and reproduced exponentially quickly and with no cats to prey upon them, the continued to carry and spread the deadly bubonic plague.

Stock brokers slide their fingers under their nose to signal Deutsche Bank. It's origin? Hitler's mustache!

Hand signaling is a system of hand signals used on financial trading floors to communicate buy and sell information in what is called an open outcry trading environment. This system is used at financial exchanges like at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and the American Stock Exchange or AMEX.

The AMEX is the only U.S. Stock market to allow the transmission of buy and sell orders through hand signals. Traders usually flash the signals quickly across a room to make a sale or a purchase. Signals that occur with palms facing out and hands away from the body are an indication the gesturer wishes to sell. When traders face their palms in and hold their hands up, they are gesturing to buy. Numbers one through five are gestured on one hand with the fingers pointing directly upwards.

To indicate six through ten, the hand is held sideways, parallel to the ground. Counting starts from six when the hand is held in this way. Numbers gestured from the forehead are blocks of ten, blocks of hundreds and thousands can be indicated by repeatedly touching the forehead with a closed fist.

The signals can otherwise be used to indicate months, specific trade option combinations, or additional market information. Some hand signaling also refers to a specific brokerage firm. For instance, the finger across the upper lip known as the Hitler Mustache signifies the Deutsche Bank.
