It’s still possible to lease a rotary phone from AT&T!
For those of you who have no idea what a rotary phone is, fear not, I will explain. The rotary phone is a landline telephone that uses a dial system for calling. The numbers are on a wheel and you have to turn the wheel all the way to the right for each number on the wheel that you dial. They were very popular until 1962 when the push button dialing was introduced, which used a keypad instead of a dial.
Some telephone systems in the US don’t even recognize rotary dialing by default. They only support push-button dialing. AT&T still offers rotary phones for lease, though. Maybe it is for nostalgia purposes, because the rotary phone is a piece of telephone history and technology. They make dialing a number take three times as long as a push-button dialing phone does, but they are pretty fun to use since they are rare to see anymore.
