The U.S. is the most overworked country in the world!
This also means we are the most overworked developed nation in the world. Underdeveloped nations deal with much different working conditions including extensive child labor and extensive working hours. In the 1960s only 20% of U.S. households had both adults employed. Now, 70% of households have both adults working.
The U.S. is the only developed nation without paid parental leave benefits. The average paid parental leave is 12 weeks in the Americas and 20 weeks in Europe! All industrialized nations have a mandatory option for new parents to take parental leave, except the U.S. where well over 50% of the workforce works over 40 hours per week, too.
