George Lucas pitched Indiana Jones to Spielberg while building sandcastles on vacation!
Indiana Jones is no ordinary archeologist. When we first see him, he is somewhere in the Peruvian jungle in 1936, running a booby-trapped gauntlet (complete with an over-sized rolling boulder) to fetch a solid-gold idol.
Creating a movie that has been in so many nominations and that has won 4 oscars had to be directed by a brilliant mind. It had to be someone with vision, courage and passion. It’s hard to find directors like this nowadays, however that wasn’t the case for this movie.
Steven Spielberg, the brilliant mind behind this movie, agreed to direct Raiders of the Lost Ark when he and George Lucas went on vacation to Hawaii and were building sandcastles. Two legends building sandcastles, now, that’s epic!
