Scientists in Nevada are creating sheep that are part human!

Sheep are ruminant mammals typically kept as livestock. Sheep are most likely descended from the wild mouflon of Europe and Asia. One of the earliest animals to be domesticated for agricultural purposes, sheep are raised for fleece, meat and milk.

A sheep’s wool is the most widely used animal fiber, and is usually harvested by shearing. Ovine meat is called lamb when from young animals and mutton when from older ones. Sheep continue to be important for wool and meat today, and are also occasionally raised for pelts, as dairy animals or as model organisms for science.

In ancient mythology, chimeras were part animal, part human, in other words, imaginary creatures that took many forms. Now scientists are actually creating them. The new creations may look like sheep, but they are part human.

Scientist in Nevada are creating sheep that are part human with the main purpose of producing a source of organs, especially livers, to transplant someday into humans! This might save a lot of lives in the future!
