Upon seeing a picture of Yoko Ono's great-grandfather, John Lennon remarked, "That's me in a former life," to which Ono replied "Don't say that... He was assassinated."

His name was Yasuda Zenjiro, and though he lived to be 83, he didn’t die of natural causes. He was a Japanese entrepreneur and the great grandfather of Yoko Ono. He started out as the son of a poor samurai, but grew a mind for business and became very wealthy by 1876.

In 1880, he set up the Yasuda Bank, which is today known as the Misuho Financial Group. In 1921, he was assassinated because he refused to make a financial donation to an ultra-nationalist.

Decades later, when John Lennon saw a photo of Yasuda, he claimed it was him in a former life. Yoko’s response of “Don’t say that... He was assassinated” stands out as pretty spooky considering Lennon too was assassinated.
