Giraffes have the shortest sleep requirements of any mammal!

Imagine you’re a tall giraffe, and you want to take a nap. The problem is… you’re huge and there’s not a lot of places you can sleep without being a giant stationary lion meal.

For that reason, giraffes have developed really low sleep requirements. When they do sleep deeply, they only do it for a few minutes at a time. Overall, giraffes sleep between ten minutes and two hours every day. The rest of the time, they take light catnaps, but they’re always alert for predators.
